The Trip That Changed Everything
After Co-founder Brad Jeffery's return from travels in Africa and South Asia, he couldn’t shake the hunger to develop a business model to help the millions of people suffering from human trafficking, slavery, and extreme poverty.
Along with his wife Katherine, who shared his passion for helping the most vulnerable, they created MADE FREE to connect the fortunate few with the marginalized many through dignified work and ethical fashion.
The Reality
- 700 Million people living in poverty
- 50 Million people enslaved globally
- 11 Million enslaved in India
- Over 50% of those enslaved are female
Handouts of food, clothing, and water offer temporary relief but don't change the circumstances for tomorrow. To end poverty, those who make our fashion goods need to earn a livable wage.

"This is not an easy business. What keeps us going is knowing how much the lives of the makers depend on us. Stopping is not an option."

Sustainability is More than Materials
At MADE FREE, holistic sustainability means balancing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. We use eco-friendly materials like 100% organic cotton canvas and biodegradable leather.
True sustainability also ensures the ethical treatment of our makers. By providing well-paying jobs, we help end slavery and extreme poverty.
Our lifetime guarantee reduces fashion waste, promoting a sustainable future for both people and the planet.
Poverty Breeds Exploitation
Walk Free's Global Slavery Index found that people living in extreme poverty are particularly susceptible to modern slavery.
Traffickers often target these individuals, offering deceptive opportunities that lead to forced labor and exploitation.
Plain and simple: poverty directly increases the risk of trafficking and modern slavery.

What is a livable wage?
A livable wage is the income necessary for a worker to meet their basic needs, including food, housing, and healthcare. It goes beyond mere survival, allowing individuals to live with dignity.
Ensuring livable wages helps break the cycle of poverty, reduces vulnerability to exploitation, and fosters economic stability, creating healthier, more resilient communities.
Meet the Makers Behind Every Stitch
